1. Agreement
By using Scan and Go (the website, planner, Account, and related pages), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What Scan and Go is
Scan and Go is a passage-planning aid for UK coastal sailing. It combines harbour information, sea routes, forecasts, tides, and daylight to suggest possible departure windows over the next few days.
It is not a chart, not a course to steer, and not a substitute for navigation, seamanship, or official publications.
3. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the safety of your vessel, crew, and others; for checking official charts, almanacs, Notices to Mariners, harbour directions, and local rules; for verifying weather, sea state, tides, and currents before sailing; and for deciding whether to go, when to leave, and the route you actually sail.
Green, amber, red, stars, and “recommended” times are decision support only. They are not instructions to sail.
4. Forecasts and data
Weather, wind, sea state, swell, and tidal information are forecasts and predictions. They can be wrong or out of date. Sea routes are for planning shape only, not a line to follow on the water. Filters (for example gust limits or daylight-only departures) change what is shown. They do not guarantee safe conditions.
5. Account
Account is optional. You must give a valid email and keep sign-in codes private. You are responsible for activity on your account and for crew links you share. We may suspend access if we reasonably believe the service is being misused.
6. Crew links and QR codes
Crew links reopen a plan for a chosen day. The forecast is worked out again when the link is opened, so results can differ from what the skipper saw. Links include an expiry date; after expiry, the crew view may show that the plan is out of date. Share links only with people you trust.
7. Harbours and routes
Harbours and routes are added and checked over time. A harbour or route may be missing, wrong, or unsuitable for your draft or conditions. Use the harbour request form if something is missing; we do not guarantee when or if it will be added.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, limit, or withdraw features (including beta) without notice.
9. Intellectual property
The site, branding, and software belong to us or our licensors. You may use the planner for personal passage planning. You may not scrape, resell, or republish the service or data except as allowed by law.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of or reliance on the planner, including delay, cancellation, grounding, injury, or loss of property. Your use is at your own risk.
11. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use means you accept the new terms.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where you have mandatory consumer rights elsewhere in the UK.
